The Citrus Golf Club is one of three golf courses within the La Quinta Resort & Club Heritage Membership program. As the name suggests, the community was created within a vast grove of mature citrus trees. Designed in 1987 by Pete Dye, the Citrus course is considered by many as one of the most challenging courses in the valley. Over the years Citrus has played host to several major PGA and nationally televised golf events. During the early-to-mid 1990's, the Citrus came to fruition with a handful of developers offering both attached and freestanding homes with spectacular fairway and mountain views.
